How to make coconut cream

How to make coconut cream

Coconuts are a key ingredient in Samoan cooking. Every part of the coconut is used. You can eat the
flesh raw or use it for cooking, you can drink the juice, the shell makes a handy cup or, together with
the husks, you can fuel a cooking fire. The most widely used product from the coconut is coconut
cream, so let me describe how the cream is traditionally made.

You will need
Coconut / popo
knife
scrapes
Coconut husk
Bowl

Method
1.  First collect all of your equipment.

2. Second get the coconut and knife. You have to be careful so you don’t cut your finger. Break the
coconut into half using the back of the knife.  You can drink the coconut water later.

3. Next get the bowl and scrape and turn around the coconut but don’t turn around it too hard. The
coconut flesh will drop in the bowl

4. Once the coconut is in the bowl you will need a husk [tauga]. Put the coconut in the husk and then
squeeze it. All the popo cream will come out and the rest of the coconut in the husk you can feed it to
the chickens or feed it to the pigs.

Now you know how to make coconut cream.
